Dynamic Test Bed Analysis of Gas Energy Balance for a Diesel Exhaust System Fit with a Thermoelectric Generator

Abstract: Analysis of the energy balance for an exhaust system of a diesel engine fit with an automotive thermoelectric generator (ATEG) of our own design has been carried out. A special measurement system and dedicated software were developed to measure the power generated by the modules. The research object was a 1.3-l small diesel engine with power output of 66 kW. The tests were carried out on a dynamic engine test bed that allows reproduction of an actual driving cycle expressed as a function V = f(t), simulating d… Show more

“…The following key aspects in choosing the type of biofuel were distinguished in this article [15]: the availability of raw materials [16]; that local raw materials must be used as fuel [17] in order to maximize the economic benefit and energy independence from the market of conventional fuels [18]; the compatibility of raw materials; and their adaptability to currently used internal combustion engines [19]. Chicken fat meets these requirements.…”

“…Data concerning the engine operating parameters came from the on-board diagnostic system. The mass fuel consumption was determined from the carbon balance calculation method (4) modified in accordance with [13,14]. The article [15] presents considerations regarding determining the NO x emissions from auxiliary compression-ignition marine engines.…”

“…Based on the works carried out in recent years, we know that the qualitative and quantitative measurements of exhaust emissions performed under laboratory conditions may significantly diverge from the actual emissions of a vehicle from a given category. This is also the case for HDV [7,13]. Therefore, actions are being taken to devel-W artykule przedstawiono rozważania dotyczące oceny emisji zanieczyszczeń z pojazdów ciężkich na podstawie badań realizowanych w rzeczywistych warunkach eksploatacji.…”
