Dynamic VO Establishment in Distributed Heterogeneous Business Environments

Abstract: Abstract. As modern SOA and Grid infrastructures are being moved from academic and research environments to more challenging business and commercial applications, such issue as control of resource sharing become of crucial importance. In order to manage and share resources within distributed environments the idea of Virtual Organizations (VO) emerged, which enables sharing only subsets of resources among partners of such a VO within potentially larger settings. This paper describes the Framework for Intelligen… Show more

“…To deal with this limitation, a novel service model which offers shared access to distributed rehabilitation and a distributed medical knowledge base, is under study. We propose to create a model based on the virtual organization paradigm [11,14,15,28] (see Figure 6). In this model the virtual organization (VO) can be used to provide a backbone for cooperation of rehabilitation centres.…”

“…• Support for dynamic, semi-automatic creation and deployment of Virtual Organizations aiming to pursue some goal, • Fully decentralized nature of the system, • Architecture and implementation according to the SOA paradigm, • Support for semantic description of organization resources and capabilities, • Full support for semantic description of event negotiations, and contracts [4], • Executing additional services according to the contract statement, • Handling multiple VO and contracts, • High scalability and robustness: the process of joining new organization to the system should be straightforward, • Very simple and lightweight deployment process, As we mentioned in the introduction, The Distributed Contract Negotiations Service was implemented as a part of the FiVO framework (Framework for intelligent Virtual Organization). The VO creation and management process is based on the negotiated contracts [5], which are semantically defined.…”

“…SLA managements frameworks and languages have been developed to support the process of SLA negotiation [1,22,23,38]. The Web Services Agreement Specification [1], proposed by the Open Grid Forum is a standard, which can be used for the SLA definition of Web services using XML documents.…”

“…In their approach the third party monitoring is also supported. In [23] a framework for intelligent virtual organizations is described. The solution allows for controlled SLA negotiations when creating a virtual organization using shared resources provided by business partners.…”
