Abstract:Electrical and fast imaging measurements are performed on an experimental device designed to study the dynamics of electric arcs in the DC regime. The work presented here investigates the relationship between electrical fluctuations and material ejection from the electrode surface. Cross-analysis of the electrical and imaging data reveals a significant correlation between electrical fluctuations in the kHz range and particle emission from the electrode surface. Different types of ejection are presented and a s… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
