Abstract:Comparing with the widely known transitional metal based van der Waals (vdW) materials, rareearth based ones are rarely explored in the research of intrinsic two-dimensional (2D) magnetism. In this work, we report the physical properties of DyOCl, a rare-earth based vdW magnetic insulator with direct band gap of ∼ 5.72 eV . The magnetic order of bulk DyOCl is determined by neutron scattering as the A-type antiferromagnetic structure below the Néel temperature TN = 10 K. The large magnetic moment near 10.1 µB/D… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
