Abstract:This article focuses on the narratives and experiences of young Hispanics in south Texas. These youths matured during America's high period of civic engagement. Their involvement in the development of social clubs defined and reinforced their culture. Growing up Hispanic meant belonging to a large, supportive, Hispanic family.
