“…Ahmed et al () showed that early activity in patients who had undergone open‐heart surgery was associated with a significantly shorter length of stay in the ICU. The results of a systematic review showed that early mobilization of patients with cardiac surgery shortens the length of hospital stay (Ramos et al, ). Further, early mobilization performed in inpatients who underwent surgery shortened the length of hospital stay (Pashikanti & von Ah, ).…”

“…Early mobilization performed in patients who underwent cardiac surgery reduces the development of post‐operative complications such as pneumonia (Sandra et al, ). In addition, early mobilization reduces complications in patients who underwent cardiac surgery (Ramos et al, ). Our results are consistent with those reported previously, and our results showed that the number of patients with complications decreased because of the positive effects of ROM exercises, deep breathing with incentive spirometry, cough exercises, and sitting and walking activities included in the protocol.…”

“…Early mobilization after cardiac surgery is crucial to the success of improved recovery [3,[11][12][13][14]. Although there are different techniques and periods proposed for mobilization, there is not enough evidence on how they should be optimal [1].…”

“…This finding highlights the importance of improving functional capacity of lung transplant candidates through pre‐habilitation. Patients who are able to walk greater distances prior to transplant may have greater functional capacity post‐transplant which could potentially reduce the incidence of postoperative complications and length of hospital stay 27 …”
