Ecchymosis Associated With The Use of Paroxetine: A Case Report

Abstract: SUMMARYParoxetine is an antidepressant included in the group of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRI) with antidepressant and anxiolytic properties. A rarely seen adverse effect of paroxetine is increase of bleeding tendency. There are several reports of ecchymoses, epistaxis, subconjunctival hemorrhage, lower and upper gastrointestinal bleeding related to paroxetine use.
