Ecofriendly Composite as a Promising Material for Highly-Performance Uranium Recovery from Different Solutions

Abstract: The development of new materials based on biopolymers (as renewable resources) is substantial for environmental challenges in the heavy metal and radionuclide ions removal contaminations. Functionalization of chitosan with sulfonic groups was achieved for improving the uranium sorption, not only from slightly acidic leachate, but also for the underground water. The prepared hydrogel based on chitosan was characterized by series of analysis tools for structure elucidation as FTIR spectroscopy, textural properti… Show more

“…This peak was shifted to 3423 cm –1 after the fabrication of CuO-NPs. The peak at 2055 cm –1 could be related to aromatic compound overlapping with ν(C-O) or related to CO stretching of carboxylic compounds and unsaturated ester [ 53 , 54 ]. The strong peak at a wavenumber of 1635 cm –1 is signifying to the C═O stretching of polysaccharides or signify to I and II amide of proteins [ 55 , 56 ].…”

“…After metal sorption, some peaks, especially for OH, NH, and C=O, disappeared or shifted-apparently, because of the metal sorption [84][85][86][87]. The peaks in the 2800-1950 cm −1 range [88,89] correspond to the asymmetric aliphatic C-H. The peak at 1631 cm −1 in the pristine sorbent becomes split into two parts around 1700-1750 cm −1 -an effect of phosphorylation on the C=O environment while another peak appears at 1510-1580 cm −1 for the NH amine groups [90].…”

“…Using Fourier-transform infrared analysis, the functional groups in the bacterial CFF were compared to TiO 2 -NPs (FT-IR, Cary-660 model). This procedure involved mixing 10 mg of synthetic TiO 2 -NPs or 5 mL of cell-free filtrate with KBr thoroughly, pressing the mixture under pressure to create a disc, and then scanning it at wavenumbers between 400 and 4000 cm −1 [29].…”

“…The provided data describes the FT-IR spectra of the CFF of L. plantarum and TiO 2 -NPs synthesized using the same CFF. The FT-IR spectra are used to identify the functional groups present in the samples based on their characteristic absorption peaks [29]. For the CFF of L. plantarum, five peaks were observed at the following wavenumbers: 3305, 1956, 1527, 1304, and 1019 cm −1 .…”
