The degradation of oak forests is an acute problem throughout the territory of the Russian Federation. Pedunculate oak is a valuable and durable tree species. The stability of oak forests is largely determined by biotypic characteristics. However, in recent years, anthropogenic impact is the main reason for the drying out of oak forests, which leads to the death of resistant pedunculate oak climatypes. The article presents the results of a study of pure stands of low-stemmed pedunculate oak on the territory of the Orenburg region. The silvicultural characteristics of plantings are given, their phytocenotic structure is described. It was found that in dry oak forests and oak undergrowth the stand was characterized by a low growth class, in fresh oak forests the highest growth class was noted. The plant density varied significantly from 0.3 to 0.7. In dry oak forests, the density index tended to decrease with age. The maximum plant density was observed at the junction of ripe and overmature ages, at the age of 60 years. The state of pure pedunculate oak stands on the territory of the Orenburg region can be assessed at the moment as satisfactory, but requires significant measures to promote seed reforestation.

The article presents the results of monitoring the state of forest stands in the Orenburg region. The proportion of planted areas with impaired and lost resistance is significant. The main reasons for the weakening and death of forests were forest fires (71.1%), adverse weather conditions and soil and climatic factors (11.9%), as well as forest diseases (9.4%). The dry climate and intense anthropogenic impacts bring forest fires to a dominant position in the loss of forest stands in the Orenburg region as a whole. An analysis of the forest fire data of the region shows that the frequency of fires is on average 10 cases per 100 ha of forests per year; the maximum number of fires is 25, and the largest area covered by the fire is up to 450 ha (2010). Recommendations are given on preventing anthropogenic impact on the soil and vegetation cover of forest cenoses of the Orenburg region. One of the main sources of anthropogenic impact on forest ecosystems is mining. The complex impact of oil and gas production and refining processes will be manifested for a long time.

At the current stage of Russia’s development one of the priorities is to ensure the protection of the environment and the rational use of natural resources. In the Framework of State Policy on Environmental Development of the Russian Federation for the period up to 2030 the ecological situation in the country is characterized by a high level of anthropogenic impact on the natural environment and significant environmental consequences of past economic activities. The problem of improving the legal regulation and organization of environmental activities of industrial enterprises as polluting objects of the environment is particularly relevant. The main pollutants emitted by Orenburg oil and gas condensate field are nitrogen dioxide, sulfur dioxide, hydrogen sulfide, carbon monoxide, hydrogen carbon and other compounds. When pollutants enter the atmosphere their physical and chemical changes occur during movement and propagation in space, turbulent diffusion and dilution.
