Ecological environment changes of mining areas around Nansi lake with remote sensing monitoring

Abstract: Underground mining activity has existed for more than 100 years in Nansi lake. Coal mining not only plays a supporting role in local social and economic development but also has a significant impact on the ecological environment in the region. Landsat series remote sensing data (1988~2019) are used to research the impact of coal mining on the ecological environment in Nansi lake. Then Support Vector Machine (SVM) classifier is applied to extract the water area of the upstream lake from 1988 to 2019, and ecolog… Show more

“…is view focuses on the perspective of ecosystem. Later, some people believed that ecological environment refers to a natural system composed of relevant natural elements, which has certain environmental and resource characteristics [6,7]. From a narrow environmental perspective, some people believe that ecological environment refers to habitat, that is, the external environmental conditions related to organisms, such as geographical location, terrain, landform, temperature and so on.…”

“…The conversion of water bodies and cultivated land is mainly concentrated in Jining City, which is also the region where changes in vegetation carbon storage are more pronounced. Jining City covers Weishan Lake, the largest freshwater lake in northern China, and the construction of water storage facilities such as dams and river embankments, as well as river ditches on agricultural land and aquaculture ponds, has led to large changes in the area of water bodies in Jining City 39 , 40 . In addition, there may be large variations in climate between the years chosen to generate GlobeLand30 data.…”

“…9 Exploring high-performance feature classification methods based on remote sensing data is gradually becoming an essential tool for ecological monitoring in mining areas. [10][11][12][13][14] The traditional methods for classifying features from remote sensing data are the pixel-based or object-oriented classification methods, which focus on detecting the distribution of features using spectral mixture analysis techniques. 15 However, these pixel-based classification methods cannot decipher the spatial and textural characteristics of images as a whole, leading to information redundancy.…”
