Economic-Geographical Method Delimiting Wagon Flows in the Region Considered: Model and Algorithm

Abstract: The problem of effective management of the railway freight flows in the conditions of the multiplicity of operators requires the rationalization of the transportation process. The further development of the authors' research on creating the mathematical model of the railway freight flows in the region transportation and technological system is presented. For the first time, the theory of algebraic curves of higher orders is used to create a territorial model of the oligopolistic market of freight traffic. The … Show more

“…Lack of knowledge about the dependence of the capacity factor on the parameters of the transport process, traffic conditions and passenger flows does not allow effective planning of the transport process, often leading to irrational decisions to adjust routes, schedules, etc. As a result of irrational planning, the proper quality of transport service is not always ensured, especially during periods of peak passenger traffic [3].…”

“…Changes in road legislation and trucking regulations have led to the need to take into account the maximum axle loads that can occur during transport. This is particularly relevant for the transport of bulk goods because when trucks (combinations of vehicles) brake or accelerate, move down a slope or drive around corners, part of the load may shift relative to the vehicle axles [1,2,3]. This, in turn, can alter the axle loads of the truck.…”

“…The geometrical idea of the approach used by the authors goes back to [12]. It received a significant development analytically in [9] and [10]. As a result, a geometrical Euclidean model (GEM) of the freight transportation market was proposed.…”

“…In this paper, the approach developed by the authors in transport and logistics research [9,10] is applied to the issues of optimizing the management of freight railway traffic flows to ports located on the southeast coast of the Baltic Sea. JSC Freight One as part of its interaction with the NLMK group of companies is considered as the object of research.…”
