Ecstasy, Joy, and Sorrow: The Religious Experience of Southern College Football

Abstract: Beginning with the assumption that college football in the American South at least looks religious, this essay explores the possibility that it functions religiously to the extent that it provides opportunities for fans to have religious experiences.
