Editor's Choice – Endovascular Aneurysm Repair Versus Open Repair for Patients with a Ruptured Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis of Short-term Survival

Abstract: Endovascular aneurysm repair is not inferior to open repair in patients with a ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm. This supports the use of EVAR in suitable patients and OR as a reasonable alternative.

“…More specifically, participants who are haemodynamically stable are often assigned to EVAR, introducing a well-defined selection bias [42]. While there is an accompanying body of observational research failing to reveal any early-mortality benefit in utilising an endovascular approach [15,31,36,40,[43][44][45], there are virtually no literature items reporting EVAR as a more morbid curative approach [37]. So while there is no high-level evidence from randomised trials supporting EVAR over OR from an early mortality perspective [15,36], the trends within observational research favour the former.…”

“…Ayrıca, bazı araştırmacılar belirli merkezlerde disseke anevrizmalarda mortalite hızının %5'in altında olmasına rağmen, hastanede kalış süresinin uzun olduğunu belirtmişlerdir. [5][6][7][8] Endovasküler stent greftleme, geleneksel açık cerrahideki minimal invaziv girişime alternatif bir tekniktir. Bu yöntemle hemodinamik dalgalanmalar ve endokrin stres yanıt azalmakta, kardiyak ve pulmoner komplikasyonlar nadir olmaktadır.…”
