Editorial: Bioprocess beyond the large scale production

Abstract

Advances in bioprocess engineering continue to step forward in its own field of large scale production in mid‐ and down‐stream processes of biotechnology. Some of the recent researches are shown in this AFOB (Asian Federation of Biotechnology) Special issue of Advances in Bioprocess Engineering.

“…The ESBES Special issue edited by Prof. Guilherme Ferreira and Prof. Philippe Jacques brings a collection of articles which are representative of the ESBES symposium in 2014 in Lille and the biochemical engineering trends and future directions. Two AFOB Special issues are: Bioenergy and biorefinery issue (edited by Prof. Yinbo Qu and Prof. Wen‐Teng Wu ) addresses the biological solution for sustainable development of human society, and the Advances in Bioprocess Engineering issue (edited by Prof. Yoon‐Mo Koo and Prof. Penjit Srinophakun ) introduces recent researches on bioprocess engineering especially from Asian scientists. In the coming 2016, BTJ will continue to work with ESBES and AFOB on three Special issues: ECAB3 Special issue (edited by Prof. M. Raquel Aires‐Barros and Prof. Jochen Büchs ), AFOB Special issue on Biosensors (edited by Prof. Eiichi Tamiya and Prof. Chunhai Fan ), and the ACB2015 in Malaysia (edited by Prof. S. Vikineswary Sabaratnam , Prof. Noriho Kamiya and Prof. Hyung Joon Cha ).…”
