Editorial for the Special Issue: Filters in Drinking Water Treatment

Abstract: Slow sand filters were first used for safe drinking water provision during the 19th century. The technology has been gradually improved and utilized at several scales. Based on their intrinsic limitations other filtration systems have been developed, including membrane technologies.
