EDLT: An Extended DLT to Enhance Load Balancing in Cloud Computing

Abstract: In recent years, cloud computing has gained prominence and most companies are applying some kind of cloud computing technology in their company or part of it. Growing number of clients who are willing to use cloud services has made load balancing an eminent challenge in this field. A general approach to load balancing is the application of Divisible Load Theory (DLT). In DLT, the workload is divided among master systems. For their turn, master systems divide the load among their slave systems. This article pre… Show more

“…Cloud computing has many different aspects of sharing the software and hardware solutions which includes computing and storage resources, time of functional programs or complex application programs properties. Data centers are of the components in cloud computing [1][2][3][4][5][6]. A cloud is defined as a place over network infrastructure where information technology (IT) and computing resources such as computer hardware, operating systems, networks, storage, data bases, and even entire software applications are available instantly.…”

“…Whenever server finds one entry for signature on the hash index, then server makes a reference for that which points to the block place on the disk. Otherwise server stores the record on the disk and adds a new entry of hash signature on the hash index [6,8,10]. De-duplication process decreases storage expense because smaller disks and so less disk purchase will be required.…”

“…Cloud computing offers advantage by allowing users to use infrastructures (for example, servers, networks and storage facilities),operating systems (for example, middleware services and operating systems) and software (for example, applications) that are provided by cloud providers (e.g., Google, Amazon and Sales force) with low cost [7,8,9]. In addition, cloud computing enables users to use required resources flexibly.…”
