“…Chromium can be enriched in the passive films of stainless steels as a result of selective dissolution during polarization, 14,15) but the effect of alloying elements on the electric resistivity of passive film is not understood, although a research work suggests that the elements such as Cr may have an influence on the contact resistivity of stainless steels. 16) In our previous works, we found that acid treatment of stainless steels may reduce the contact resistivity to such an extent that it can be employed to produce stainless steel separators for PEFC, and this acid treatment is very low-cost.
