Effect of different extenders on motility and some sperm kinematics parameters in Norduz goat semen

Abstract: Use of computer-assisted sperm analyzers (CASAs) to evaluate sperm fertilizing ability has great importance for the artificial insemination industry. For motility evaluation, different CASA systems and diluents are being used. These assays are poor in predicting sperm fertility, because only the samples with markedly poor quality can be detected. However, there is not a unitary extender worldwide. Therefore, we aimed to evaluate the postthaw kinetic parameters of curvilinear velocity (VCL), straight-line veloc… Show more

“…In addition, the decrease in somekinematic parameters has been associated with differences in extender density, viscosity, and number and size of particles (Tekin and Daşkin, 2016). This can justify the fact that, immediately post-thaw, the groups treated with the largest concentrations of polyphenols presented decreased VSL, VAP, and WOB in Experiment 1, without changes in other criteria, as well as decreased PM, LINand WOB in Experiment 2, associated with a higher PMi.…”

“…It is reported that VAP value with other sperm kinematics are highly positively correlated with pregnancy rates and sperm TA B L E 1 Result of multiple linear regression model (Velocity Average Path (VAP)) and the environmental variable (Temperature Humidity Index (THI)). migration ability in the female genital tract (Cox et al, 2002;Tekin & Daşkın, 2016). However, there is no direct research evidence linking sperm VAP values and fertility alone.…”

“…When evaluating goat sperm in the CASA system, the point to be considered to obtain an objective result is the selection of specific settings for the buck. However, the values that obtain from the assessment from these systems should be evaluated with minimum and maximum limits for buck semen (Palacin et al, 2013;Tekin & Daşkin, 2016;Anand et al, 2016).…”
