The crustacean ornamental trade has grown into a multimillion-dollar enterprise (Bondad-Reantaso et al., 2012). The industry provides excellent economic opportunities for developing countries in particular, given that some species can be reared in small, simple and inexpensive production units, which is especially so for freshwater organisms.Recently, it was discussed that interaction between academic and scientific communities, governments, zoos and public aquaria, hobbyists and the ornamental aquatic industry was essential to improve the benefits of the ornamental trade (King, 2019).
