Effect of digoxin on acid hydrolase activity in the myocardium

Abstract: Dose-dependent effect of digoxin on cardiac lysosomal enzymes is demonstrated. In doses of 2.5 and 5 mg/kg digoxin suppresses and in a dose of 10 mg/kg increases the activity of myocardial acid hydrolases. By sensitivity to digoxin, the enzymes rank as follows: [3-glucosidase>13-galactosidase>acid phosphatase.
