Effect of encapsulated Lactobacillus casei 01 along with pressurized-purple-rice drinks on colonizing the colon in the digestive model

Abstract: The objective of the study was to examine the influence of encapsulated Lactobacillus casei 01 combining with two types of pressurized-purple-rice drinks on colonizing the colon using a simulator of the human intestinal microbial ecosystem. Subsequently, the metabolic products of colon bacteria and various microflora were determined. The finding revealed that acetate which was the predominant short-chain fatty acid (SCFA) was found in both proximal and distal colons, while the combination of encapsulated L. ca… Show more

“…The reactor setup was adapted from the SHIME R (ProDigest and Ghent University, Belgium), representing the GIT of the adult human, as described by Molly et al [18] and Worametrachanon et al [19]. Four modified SHIME systems were run in parallel, each consisting of a succession of 1 reactor per diet simulating stomach and small intestine (temporal succession), and 2 proximal (PC) and distal (DC) colon compartments ( Fig.…”

“…Two modified SHIME systems were run in parallel (i.e. 'control arm' and 'chronic stress arm'), each consisting of a succession of 3 reactors simulating stomach and small intestine (temporal succession), proximal (PC) and distal (DC) colon as described by Worametrachanon et al (2014). 22 The colonic compartments were inoculated with fecal microbiota of a healthy 35-year old volunteer who had no history of Ab use in the past six months.…”

“…For ensuring a proper column lifetime, it was decided not to commence with a dilute-and-shoot approach immediately. 23 Five extraction parameters (Table 1) were compared during an FFD of 19 experiments for achieving a reliable, repeatable and generic extraction procedure. No RSM could be performed, as the minimum of two quantitative variables was not reached.…”
