“…In our studies the percent mycosis and sporulation was higher in the treatments in which the lower concentration of B. bassiana was applied alone against R. dominica compared with other treatments. Similar results were noted by Tefera and Pringle (2003), who found the higher mycosis and sporulation in cadavers of Chilo partellus (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae) at lower dose rates of B. bassiana compared with the highest concentration; this may be attributed to the self-inhibition mechanism at highest dose rates (Garraway and Evans 1984). Likewise, Adane et al (1996) reported maximum sporulation on Sitophilus zeamais (Coleoptera: Curculioniae) by isolate 190-520 of B. bassiana.…”

“…The cadavers were incubated at 25±2 o C, 75% r.h. for 7 days and those showing external white fungal growth were determined under a stereomicroscope. The data for sporulation were determined by mixing mycosed cadavers from each replication in 20 ml distilled water with a drop of Tween-80 in a beaker (Tefera and Pringle 2003). The treatments were replicated independently three times.…”

“…Larvae exposed to Cry1Ac and B. bassinia simultaneously Larvae of O. furnacalis, which had entered the third instar within the 24-h period, were dipped into B. bassiana conidia suspension in serial concentrations of 1.8 Â 10 7 , 1.8 Â 10 6 , and 1.8 Â 10 5 conidia ml À1 for approximately 30 s (Tefera and Pringle, 2003a). The larvae were air-dried for 10 min in sterile Petri dishes.…”

“…Leaf and stem damages caused by larval feeding often result in substantial yield reduction. Alternatives to chemical pesticides are being investigated for control of C. partellus including entomopathogenic fungi (Tefera and Pringle, 2003a).…”
