Effect of “Z” factor for strength of interphase layers on the tensile strength of polymer nanocomposites

Abstract: The influences of “Z” factor for the strength of interphase layers on the tensile strength of polymer nanocomposites and various interphase properties are explained applying three approaches including developed Leidner‐Woodhams, Pukanszky, and Callister‐Rethwisch models. All models and equations for interphase parameters are developed based on a multi‐layered interphase in different polymer nanocomposites. The calculations reveal that the role of “Z” factor is highlighted when much volume fraction of nanofille… Show more

“…6 However, gelatin-based hydrogels are characterized by low mechanical properties and by a fast biodegradation rate. 7 PVA is a synthetic polymer produced by polymerization of vinyl acetate to polyvinyl acetate, and a successive partial or full hydrolysis of acetate groups. 8 PVA hydrogels have a high degree of swelling as well as good compressive and elastic properties.…”

“…The ability to uptake water is a main feature of scaffolds for biomedical applications due to its effect on the capacity for the exchange of nutrients and waste products. [42] The results of water absorption testing for different scaffolds are shown in Figure 5. It can be seen that the percentage of the water absorption of all of the samples increased dramatically during the first hour of the test and reached a steady (maximum swelling) value after 2 h. In general, the hybrid constructs showed a lower water uptake ability the pure DT.…”

“…Additionally, most available models on the mechanics cannot suppose the interphase effects [18,32,33]. Therefore, several new and developed models were suggested to study the interphase character in the mechanical behavior [34][35][36].…”
