Abstract:Polypeptide complexes derived from the bronchi, blood vessels, muscles, kidneys, ovaries, testes, and retina stimulated the processes of cell renewal in organotypic cultures of the corresponding organs of young and old animals. A correlation between the intensity of regeneration and animal' age was revealed. The polypeptide complexes reduced the expression of apoptotic factors p53 and caspase 3 and increased the expression of proliferation protein Ki-67. These results provide the basis for further study of the… Show more
“…However, the core molecule in apoptosis is cleaved caspase-3 (a cysteine protease), which is known to be mainly in charge of the execution of apoptosis. 10,37 It has commonly been believed that Bax acts downstream of cleaved caspase-3 activation, and thus, apoptosis is inhibited by the downregulation of cleaved caspase-3, which plays an irreplaceable role in apoptosis. 38 Our results showed that urolithin A intervention signicantly downregulated Bcl-2 and Bax protein expression and upregulated the expression of cleaved caspase-3.…”
Urolithin A, a metabolite produced by human colon microflora from ellagic acid and related compounds, has been reported to have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antiapoptotic properties.

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
