Effect of Silver Nanoparticles on the Dielectric Properties and the Homogeneity of Plasma Poly(acrylic acid) Thin Films

Abstract: For the first time, structure−electrochemical relationships of thin films of a plasma-polymerized acrylic acid/carbon dioxide AA/ CO 2 (75/25%) copolymer modified by implanted silver nanoparticles are discussed. The pulsed plasma polymerization of AA/CO 2 was utilized and adjusted to obtain a maximal amount of COOH groups forming an almost uncross-linked polymer structure. The prepared polymer layer is rinsed by a silver nitrate solution to impregnate Ag + ions. This step is followed by its reduction of Ag + w… Show more

“…The efficiency of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) against a variety of microorganisms has been previously established [ 13 ]. AgNPs were prepared using chemical or physical methods [ 14 ]. For decades, AgNPs have been categorized as additives and food contact materials for consumer products [ 15 ].…”

“…Similarly, the 1718 cm −1 peak owing to C = O bond of ester group for the former was shifted to a lower frequency, i.e. 1660 cm −1 , compared to that for the latter (Fahmy et al , 2020). The bands observed at 1783, and 1800 cm −1 were attributed to the C = O stretching vibration of the ester groups.…”

“…The C1s XPS spectra for PVF material (see Figure S1a ) were separated into three contributions related to carbon atoms having different oxidation states due to the following functional groups containing oxygen: (1) nonoxygenated C-C bonds at a binding energy of 284.6 eV, (2) C-O bonds (binding energy of 286.3 eV) and (3) C=O bonds (binding energy of 287.5 eV) [ 37 ].…”
