Abstract:The sedimentation constant of rodlike macromolecules decreases with increasing angular velocity of the ultracentrifuge. In the previous paper (Japan. J. appl. Phys. 2 (1963) 1), this fact was explained as due to the orientation of macromolecules by assuming that the ultracentrifugal forces acting on the molecule are parallel. In this paper non-parallel nature of the ultracentrifugal forces is taken into account and the results of the previous paper are corrected.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
