Effect of the Angular Velocity on the Sedimentation Constant of Rodlike Macromolecules, II.

Abstract: The sedimentation constant of rodlike macromolecules decreases with increasing angular velocity of the ultracentrifuge. In the previous paper (Japan. J. appl. Phys. 2 (1963) 1), this fact was explained as due to the orientation of macromolecules by assuming that the ultracentrifugal forces acting on the molecule are parallel. In this paper non-parallel nature of the ultracentrifugal forces is taken into account and the results of the previous paper are corrected.
