Effect of turbulence on underwater targets recognition

Abstract

This paper provides analysis of the echoes structure returning from underwater targets, then it describes the effect of turbulence on underwater targets recognition .The used sonar signals recognition system deals with the echoes received from complex geometrical shapes of underwater targets .Practical measurements were carried out in the Naval Research Center (N.R.C) in Alexandria that is supported with a standard water tank .When the vibration sysrem in the water tank started , the effect of turbulence on the received echoes that returned from the targets was included.
