Effect of using laser incising treatment and fire-retardant coating on Larix kaempferi wood to improve fire retardant performance

Abstract: To improve fire-retardant performance of Japanese larch (Larix kaempferi) wood, this study analyzed the effect of pinholes made by laser incising and fire retardant (FR) coating on the surface of Japanese larch wood. Combustion properties such as peak heat release rate (PHRR) and total heat release (THR) of Japanese larch and Korean red pine (Pinus densiflora) wood without FRs showed similar tendencies.
