“…Filler strips of pure Mg and Al containing alloys lead to grain coarsening in the welds and thus contribute to the inferior mechanical properties of the joints. Although no evident grain coarsening occurs in welds filled with ZK21 and ZK60 alloy, the UTS of these joints 20 Owning to fine grains in weld, a high quality joint is obtained when the filler strip of ZK40 is employed, and it possesses the highest UTS of 322 MPa and good elongation of 6?5%, which are up to 90?7 and 63?8% respectively of those of the base metal.
