“…In the literature, many studies showed the effectiveness of talc pleurodesis in malignant pleural effusions, exudative pleural effusions, or recurrent pleural effusions, as well as in spontaneous pneumothorax cases. [18][19][20][21] However, some patients developed adverse reactions associated with talcum powder pleurodesis such as dyspnea, fever, hypersensitivity, and allergic reactions. Gonzalez et al published the side effects of thoracoscopic talc insufflation; in their study, of 138 patients that underwent 142 procedures, 12 (8.7%) had dyspnea with increased oxygen requirements, four (2.9%) had talc-related lung injury, and four (2.9%) had respiratory deterioration.…”
