“…In all the tested parameters, the liver functions of the diabetes-induced rats could be significantly improved by thymol and thymol nano polymer. ALT and AST are the important hepatic enzymes due to their levels in serum as the specific and reliable biomarker for liver damages [42,49,50]. In confirmation of our results, it was shown in a paper that thymol 40 mg/kg has been able to significantly reduce ALT and AST in diabetic rats by STZ and help animal health [48].…”

“…The samples of liver and kidney tissues were histologically measured by hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining. The kidney specimens were assessed for the space and interstitial inflammation, while piecemeal necrosis, focal lytic necrosis, and degree of portal inflammation have been considered based on previously reports (Ishak index protocol) for liver tissue samples [2,18,19]. All histopathological examinations were carried out in the Danesh Pathobiology Laboratory.…”

“…Diabetic diseases are one of the most common metabolic disorders across the world and more than 220 million people are suffering from their side effects [1]. Generally, two main factors are respon-sible for the causes of diabetic disorders: (1) poor insulin secretion (2) insulin resistance or both of them at the same time [2]. As previous reports, three types of diabetes have high level prevalence in the world including type I, type II and gestational [3].…”

“…Additionally, after four weeks of treatment with the combined extracts mixture, alanine aminotransferase (ALT), LDL−C, TG, and creatinine recovered to healthy control levels. Moreover, these beneficial effects were more potent with the combination of them compared with that of single treatments …”
