Effects of different bleaching application durations on enamel in terms of tooth color, microhardness, and surface roughness

Abstract: The aim of this research was to assess the color differences (∆E00), Vickers microhardness, whiteness index, and surface roughness values of different durations of bleaching the enamel. One hundred and eight teeth were utilized for color evaluation, roughness, and microhardness (n = 36). Teeth were assigned to three groups (n = 12) based on the durations of the bleaching application. Bleaching agent was applied for 20 minutes in group 1, 40 minutes in group 2, and 60 minutes in group 3. The color was measured … Show more

“…Visual–instrumental color harmony within dentistry requires that parameters of K L = 2, K C = 1, and K H = 1 be adopted, adhering to a differentiated weighting scheme of 2:1:1 [ 29 ]. The rotation term (RT) addresses interactions between chroma and hue [ 30 ]. The ΔE 00 color difference formula is represented as follows: ΔE 00 = [(ΔL*/ K L S L ) 2 + (ΔC’/ K C S C ) 2 + (ΔH’/ K H S H ) 2 + R T (ΔC’/ K C S C ) (ΔH’/ K H S H )] 1/2 …”
