Effects of Genetic Variations on Lipoprotein Metabolism in Cardiovascular Diseases

Abstract: Advances in molecular techniques have shown that genetic factors predispose individuals to cardiovascular diseases (CVD). These techniques have made it possible to identify disease-causing genes, prediction to disease susceptibility and responsiveness to drug interventions. For the purpose of this review, therapeutic intervention (niacin) was conducted in a nonhuman primate model to assess the impact of six coincident single nucleotide polymorphisms (cSNP) identiied in prioritised reverse cholesterol transport… Show more

“…The PAXgene Blood RNA Kit (Qiagen) was used to isolate and purify intracellular RNA from whole blood collected in the PAXgene Blood RNA Tubes. The exact procedure previously reported for RNA extraction, purification, cDNA conversion 28,29 was employed. The RT 2 qPCR primer assay (Qiagen), designed for SYBR® Green‐based qPCR detection (Applied Biosystems) was used for PCSK9 (PPQ16344A).…”

“…The PAXgene Blood RNA Kit (Qiagen) was used to isolate and purify intracellular RNA from whole blood collected in the PAXgene Blood RNA Tubes (BRT). The exact procedure previously reported for RNA extraction, purification, and cDNA conversion was employed. The RT2 qPCR primer assays (Qiagen), designed for SYBR ® Green‐based RT‐PCR detection (Applied Biosystems), were used for BFSP1 (PPQ02282A), CRYBB1 (PPH01601A), GALK1 (PPH19366A), and GJA8 (PPQ06065A).…”
