Effects of stocking density and environmental conditions on performance, immunity, carcase characteristics, blood constitutes, and economical parameters of cobb 500 strain broiler chickens

Abstract: The effects of stocking density and environmental conditions on performance, economic profit, carcase characteristics, immunity, and blood plasma parameters of Cobb 500 strain of broiler chickens were evaluated. The 4 climate regions (mild and humid, semi-arid, alpine, hot and dry) and 4 densities (10, 15, 17 and 20 chicks/m 2 ) were carried out as a completely randomised design with 4 Â 4 factorial arrangement of treatments. The corn and soybean based diets were formulated according to the nutrition requireme… Show more

“…The stocking density (number of animals/surface area) is a key parameter in every livestock business. Low stocking densities may result in a poor efficiency of the farm whereas too high densities (overcrowding) may result in animal welfare issues or a poor growth (Gholami et al, 2020;Sørensen et al, 2000). Insect farmers are no different from other farmers in that respect.…”

“…The health of the animals is an undisputed need, and health is the basic requirement for animal welfare because worse health causes less welfare (Ma et al, 2014). Nowadays, the increase and high price of meat consumption lead to a different product, such as poultry, which is more commercially effective (Gholami et al, 2020). The costs of feeding methods in poultry have an important share.…”

“…One of the most important management practices affecting animal health and welfare is the litter quality [ 11 , 12 ]. There are many factors affecting the litter quality including ventilation, drinker design, litter material, stocking density, and diet [ 13 , 14 , 15 ]. The poor litter quality encourages the growth and spread of nonpathogenic and pathogenic microorganisms, which can cause subsequent infection such as Salmonella [ 16 ].…”
