Effects of tuned mass damper on correlation of wind‐induced responses and combination coefficients of equivalent static wind loads of high‐rise buildings

Abstract: Summary Tuned mass dampers (TMDs) are employed to control the wind‐induced responses of tall buildings. In the meantime, TMD may have an impact on the correlation of wind‐induced responses and combination coefficients of equivalent static wind loads (ESWLs). First, the mass matrix and stiffness matrix were extracted in this paper in accordance with the structural analysis model of two high‐rise buildings, and on that basis, the wind‐induced vibration responses analysis model with and without TMD was establishe… Show more

“…[ 39 ] Efforts have been made by various researchers to achieve the optimum performance of the TMD under design loading [ 40–42 ] and to study its structural control performance in benchmark structures. [ 43,44 ] A comprehensive review on the various types of TMDs applied to structures over the years has been discussed by Soto et al [ 45 ]…”

“…Cities are facing an ever‐increasing demand for land or housing to accommodate their growing populations, and there is an urgent need to promote sustainable social and economic growth in urban areas (Boukari & Long, 2021). Promoting effective land use, including efficient building structures for density use, is regarded as critical to reducing urban sprawl (Wang et al., 2019). In general, there are two approaches to building a freehold estate home.…”

“…They adopted multiple degrees of freedom lumped mass system to model the structure and evaluated using random vibration method. Wang et al [ 33 ] have investigated the impact of the TMD installed in the irregular‐shaped buildings on the correlation of wind‐induced response and combination coefficients of equivalent static wind loads (ESWL). They have adopted wind tunnel test to study the wind‐induced response of the building with and without TMD.…”
