The system made up of a nitrogen heterocycle ligand and lanthanum(III) ion was used in the catalytic hydrolysis of bis(4-nitrophenyl) phosphate ester (BNPP). This catalytic system showed higher catalytic activity in this hydrolysis and better reproducibility and stability than other similar lanthanum(III) ion systems. The rate of the catalytic hydrolysis was about 10 8 -fold faster than that of its spontaneous hydrolysis under the same conditions. Compared with previous Cu(II) or Ni(II) complexes containing the same ligand in water, the activity of the macrocyclic La(III) complexe is increased ca 10 4 -fold. The experimental evidence showed that the mon-hydroxy complex made of the nitrogen heterocycle ligand and lanthanum(III) ion is the active species as catalyst in the catalytic hydrolysis of BNPP.

The reaction of Salen-like Zn II and Ni II precursors with carbacylamidophosphate lanthanide moieties yields six new types of 3d-4f compounds. The complexes were characterized by means of 1 H, 31 P NMR and IR spectroscopy, elemental analysis, ESI mass spectrometry, and X-ray diffraction analysis. Depending on the Schiff base ligands, the Ni II ion adopts either a square-planar or an octahedral geometry,[a] 3720 whereas the Zn II ion has a tetragonal-pyramidal geometry. The coordination number of lanthanides is nine or ten. Hydrolytic activities of some heterobimetallic Zn-Ln and Ni-Ln coordination compounds in the reaction of intramolecular hydrolytic degradation of the 2-(hydroxypropyl)-p-nitrophenyl phosphate were investigated. uclear complexes. In the title compound, 2C10H15N4Se+·Cl−·OH−, a singly protonated molecule of the organic selenide participates in hydrogen bonding with neighboring molecules, forming zigzag chains along [001]. The molecule adapts a cis bridging mode with a C—Se—C angle of 102.13 (15)°. π–π stacking interactions are observed between the closest pyrazole rings of neighboring chains [centroid–centroid distance = 3.888 (1) Å] and hydrogen bonding occurs through bridging chloride anions and hydroxide groups. Additionally, O—H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds are formed.
