Efficient Catalytic Phosphate Ester Cleavage by Binuclear Zinc(II) Pyrazolate Complexes as Functional Models of Metallophosphatases

Abstract: A series of dizinc(II) complexes based on the pyrazolate ligands 3-[(1E)-N-hydroxyethanimidoyl]-4-methyl-1H-pyrazole-5-carboxylic acid (H(3)L(1)), (1E,1'E)-1,1'-(4-methyl-1H-pyrazole-3,5-diyl)diethanone dihydrazone (HL(2)), (E,E)-(4-methyl-1H-pyrazole-3,5-diyl)bis(methylmethanone) dioxime (H(3)L(3)), (E,E)-(4-phenyl-1H-pyrazole-3,5-diyl)bis(phenylmethanone) dioxime (H(3)L(4)), and 1H-pyrazole-3,5-dicarboxylic acid (H(3)L(5)) have been synthesized and investigated as functional models of phosphoesterases, focus… Show more

“…The investigations revealed that the active species are specifically the hydroxolanthanum(III) complex in alkaline solution [15,17], so many lanthanum(III) cationic complexes are highly active in catalysing phosphodiester hydrolysis in alkaline solution, but are inactive in acidic solution [17]. These results were also obtained in our work.…”

“…The kinetic data for all complexes show that the rate of hydrolysis is linearly dependent on the complex concentration (Figure 7). [47,[49][50][51] No significant hydrolysis of the test substrate occurred in the absence of the complexes. The results ( Table 6) show that 2b-Lu is the most effective among the examined complexes.…”

“…Pyrazole-derived ligands are widely used in molecular magnetism, bioinorganic modelling and supramolecular chemistry due to their bridging nature and possibility for easy functionalization (Krämer et al, 2000;Fritsky et al, 2004;Kovbasyuk et al, 2004;Sachse et al, 2008;Penkova et al, 2009). As a part of our synthetic and structural study of bis-(1H-pyrazol-4-yl)selenides (Seredyuk et al, 2010a) and their complexes with d-metals (Seredyuk et al, 2007(Seredyuk et al, , 2009Seredyuk et al, 2010b), we report here the molecular and crystal structures of the title compound ( Fig.…”
