Microfluidic chips have the advantages of miniaturization, integration, and portability, and are widely used in the early diagnosis of major diseases, personalized medical treatment, environmental detection, health quarantine, and other fields. The existing microfluidic chip manufacturing process is difficult to operate because of complex three-dimensional channels, complicated manufacturing steps, limited printing materials, the difficulty of operating the bonding process, and the need to purchase expensive new equipment. In this paper, an integrated molding method for microfluidic chips that integrates 3D printing and polymer dissolution technology is proposed. First, the channel mold of poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) or high impact polystyrene (HIPS) is dissolved to complete the manufacturing of the microfluidic chip channel. The integrated 3D-forming method of microfluidic chips proposed in this paper can manufacture microchannels inside the microfluidic chip, avoid the bonding process, and eliminate the need for rapid alignment of microchannels, material modification, and other operations, thus improving the stability of the process. Finally, by comparing the microchannels made by PVA and HIPS, it is concluded that the quality of the microchannels made by HIPS is obviously better than that made by PVA. This paper provides a new idea for the fabrication of microfluidic chips and the application of HIPS.

As the new green solvent, the ionic liquid is widely used in separation, synthesis, electrochemistry, and catalysis research. Accompanied by the oil sulfur content, high standards, and strict requirements, how to achieve deep desulfurization has become a challenge that refineries must face. To comprehensively understand the ionic liquids for oil desulfurization research, 848 papers from 2008 to 2023 are used as research data in this paper. Visualization and analysis were carried out with the help of bibliometric methods. The study found that Chinese publications are in the first position, and literature on this topic shows a more apparent geographical trend. Ionic liquids are currently used in oil desulfurization mainly as catalysts or extractants and are widely used in extractive desulfurization and oxidative desulfurization technologies for fuel oils. Future development may include new ionic liquids research and desulfurization effect performance, polymetallic oxides and ionic liquids fusion research, and research on desulfurization of novel materials similar to ionic liquids such as deep eutectic solvents.

Performance Investigation of Micromixer with Spiral Pattern on the Cylindrical Chamber Side Wall

In this paper, a sequence of passive micromixers with spiral patterns on the side wall of cylindrical chambers are designed, optimized, prepared and tested. The simulation studies show that the vortex magnitude and continuity in the mixing chamber are the most important factors to determine mixing performance, while the inlet position and structural parameters are secondary influences on their performance. According to the above principles, the performance of a micromixer with a continuous sidewall spiral finally wins out. The total mixing length is only 14 mm, but when Re = 5, the mixing index can reach 99.81%. The multi-view visual tests of these mixer chips prepared by 3D printing are consistent with the simulation results. This paper provides a new idea for optimizing the micromixer with spiral patterns on the side wall and the problems of floor area and pressure loss are significantly improved compared to the conventional spiral structure.
