Efficient multi-beam density-tapered diffraction of pulse light by multi-frequency sound

Abstract: Acousto-optic diffraction of pulsed laser radiation on a multi-frequency acoustic wave has been studied. It is established that the high efficiency of diffraction (i.e., the formation of a multi-beam optical field with low losses) can be also achieved for a non-equidistant set of frequencies and, hence, non-uniform distribution of beams in the angular space. Results of experimental verification of the proposed approach are presented.
