Effort-Oriented Classification Matrix of Web Service Composition

Abstract: Within the service-oriented computing domain, Web service composition is an effective realization to satisfy the rapidly changing requirements of business. Therefore, the research into Web service composition has unfolded broadly. Since examining all of the related work in this area becomes a mission next to impossible, the classification of composition approaches can be used to facilitate multiple research tasks. However, the current attempts to classify Web service composition do not have clear objectives. F… Show more

“…However, we can inductively draw some classification of this work, and thereby facilitate the effort judgement for different type of WSC approaches. To overcome the deficiencies of existing classifications for WSC, a novel classification matrix aimed at the influence on the effort of WSC has been introduced (Li et al, 2010a). This matrix uses clarified terminology, and differentiates the classifications between the context and technology dimensions.…”

“…Automatic composition of Web services is a very active area of research which has provided a lot of important results [10,1,15,6] as well as many implemented approaches [11,12,2,3,13]. In this paper we present the system TripICS -a real-life application of our Web service composition system PlanICS [8,9,13] to planning trips and travels around the world.…”
