Electrical Conductivity Studies on Co(II), Cu(II),Ni(II) and Cd(II) Complexes of Azines

Abstract: 1-Phenyl-4-(2'-hydroxyphenyl-1-yl)di-imino azine, {1P-4-(2' HPDA)} 1, 4(2'-hydroxyphenyl-1-yl)di-imino azine, {1, 4-(2' HPDA)} are derived from benzophenone hydrozone with different aldehydes in presence of few drops of concentrated hydrochloric acid in alcoholic medium. Metal(II) complexes have been prepared by salts of CoCl2, CuCl2, NiCl2and CdCl2reacting with azine ligands dissolved in alcohol in the molar ratio of (1:2). The prepared complexes were characterized by using various physical methodsviz. elemen… Show more

“…Because of these excellent properties, the Schiff base complexes are keen to study the properties in various forms. However, the dielectric and bulk conductivity properties of Schiff base complexes were less reported (Ding et al, 2001;Revanasiddappa et al, 2008). Here we report the room temperature conductivity and dielectric relaxation mechanism of metal Schiff base complexes by solid state impedance analyzer.…”

“…The IR spectral data of these iron(III) complexes are summarized in Table . IR spectra bands appeared in the regions 3368–3340 cm −1 , 1620–1590 cm −1 , 638–593 cm −1 and 487–482 cm −1 , which are assigned to ν(N―H), ν (C═N), ν(Fe―O) and ν(Fe―N) stretching vibrations respectively . The band due to ν(N―H) is at almost the same position with respect to the spectrum of free pyrazoline ligand, suggesting the non‐involvement of N―H in bond formation.…”

“…The appearance of new bands in the region 1011–1008 cm −1 and 638–593 cm −1 may be assigned to ν(C―O) and ν(Fe―O) stretching vibrations respectively . The presence of these bands clearly indicates a coordinated aspartic acid moiety.…”

“…They are used for production of various type of pigments, dyes [3], and synthetic intermediates for preparation of heterocyclic compounds such as pyrazoles, purines and pyrimidines [4]. They exhibit antimicrobial [5], anticancer [6] and herbicidal [6a] properties. Due to the presence of imine groups with NAN bridge in their structure, they are used as ligands for the organometallic systems [7].…”
