Electrical conductivity studies on water‐soluble polypyrrole–graphene oxide composites

Abstract: Polypyrrole (PPy)–graphene oxide (GO) composites are synthesized via a soft‐chemical in situ method at different GO concentrations (10, 20, 30, 40, and 50 wt%) and with ammonium persulfate (APS) as the oxidant. The synthesized composites were characterized using Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) and ultraviolet‐visible light (UV–vis) spectroscopic studies, and their surface properties were analyzed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Characterization and surface… Show more

“…The spectra of GNPs indicate transmittance peaks at around 1390, 1635, and 1712 cm À 1 [17]. There are weak absorption bands from 1700 cm À 1 to 1800 cm À 1 , which can be attributed to the stretching vibration of -CQO [18]. The peaks appeared in the GNP-RGO are also shown in the PCL-GNP-RGO composites, confirming the formation of these composites.…”

“…The peak at 1560.42 cm À1 and 1470.49 cm À1 corresponds to the C¼C stretching vibrations in PPy. FTIR spectra of PPy exhibiting a peak at 1316.46 cm À1 which is due to the C-N stretching vibration in PPy [26]. In plane C-H mode (1048.44 cm À1 ) and out of plane C-H mode (966.50 cm À1 and 926.45 cm À1 ) are due to the PPy polymer chains [27][28][29].…”

“…2 Extensive research on PPy and its derivatives has been led to their applications in drug delivery, [3][4][5] sensors, [6][7][8] biosensors, 9,10 super-capacitors, [11][12][13] batteries, 14,15 electrochromic devices, 16,17 etc. 22 Preparation of composites of PPy with carbon materials, [23][24][25] polymeric compounds 26 or nanoparticles of inorganic solids 27 is another way to improve the solubility of PPy. Over years several strategies have been employed by scientists for dealing with this solubility problem.…”
