Electrochemical and Surface Morphological Studies of Carbon Steel Corrosion by a Novel Polynuclear Schiff Base in HCl Solution

Abstract: The corrosion inhibition efficiency of a potential polynuclear Schiff base, (s)-2-(anthracene-9 (10H)-ylidene amino)-5-guanidinopentanoic acid (A9Y5GPA), on carbon steel (CS) in 1 M hydrochloric acid solution has been investigated using weight loss measurements, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), and potentiodynamic polarization studies. The corrosion inhibition efficiencies of parent amine [(s)-2-amino-5-guanidinopentanoic acid] and parent ketone (anthracene-9 (10H)-one) on carbon steel in 1.0 M hy… Show more

“…It is evident from Table 3 that with the increase in HMBH concentration, the R ct values increased due to resistance to corrosion offered by the added inhibitor. Lowering of C dl values as amounts of HMBH increased may be attributed to lowering of dielectric constant and also increased in double-layer thickness at metal/solution interface [21]. The inhibition efficiency obtained from PDP and EIS techniques is in good agreement.…”

“…Table 2 reports the fitting values. The equivalent circuit was chosen based on the morphology of the interface of the sensor and the choice was confirmed by the literature [38,39]. All these obtained results allow confirming that the NFs form was the one that was suited best for the application in body joint monitoring.…”

“…The presence of halide ions in solutions has been found to stabilize the adsorption of some organic cations, leading to improved inhibition efficiency 7 . In continuation of our work 8 , we report in this paper the corrosion inhibition behaviour and synergism…”
