Electrochemical behavior, structural, morphological, Calf Thymus-DNA interaction and in-vitro antimicrobial studies of synthesized Schiff base transition metal complexes

Abstract: New tetradentate Schiff base transition metal complexes have been derived from salicylidene-4-imino-2,3-dimethyl-1-phenyl-3-pyrazolin-5-one and histidine were characterized by CHN analysis, magnetic susceptibility measurements, molar conductance, FAB-MS, IR, 1 H-NMR, UV, CV, EPR, Fluorescence emission, AFM and Powder XRD techniques. AFM images and Powder XRD data endure that the complexes are nano-size grains with polycrystalline structure. The spectral evidences showed that all the meta… Show more

“…Schiff base derived from a heterocyclic ring with carbonyl compounds is one of the important special center of attraction in many biological, clinical, medicinal and pharmacological field. [1][2][3] 4-Aminoantipyrine based heterocyclic had a great importance as it is abundant in nature and several derivatives of antipyrine have a wide activity as analgesic, [4] antiinflammatory, [5] antimicrobial, [6] and anticancer activity. [7][8][9] It also has been used for the protection against oxidative stress as well as prophylactic of some diseases including cancer and these are important directions in medical applications.. [10] Also, it is well documented that oxime compounds and their complexes with transition metals have many applications in medicine and biology.…”

“…Bis ‐dioxomolybdenum complexes (MoO 2 L1 and MoO 2 L2) exhibited superior cytotoxicity against all the three applicable cell lines comparing to their corresponded free bis ‐Schiff base ligands (H 2 L1 and H 2 L2) (Figure S23). The enhancement of their anticancer potential, for the reacting free ligands, could be related to their various structural features and would be attributable to redox‐active molybdenum (VI) ions …”

“…The enhancement of their anticancer potential, for the reacting free ligands, could be related to their various structural features and would be attributable to redox-active molybdenum (VI) ions. [77,78] In general, the viability of HCT-116, MCF-7 and HepG2 cells, which treated with the test current reagents, decreased in a concentration-dependent manner, however, the anticancer activity of those studied reagents (MoO 2 -complexes and their free ligands) was less than the standard drug, vinblastine (Table S3). All the probed reagents were more cytotoxic against the MCF-7 cell line (b) and MoO 2 L1 presented the lowest IC 50 values.…”

“…2-Pyrazolines are a serious family of heterocycles because of their wide spectrum pharmacological activities and important biological applications [5] as; antioxidant, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory activities. [6] Also, many pyrazoline based compounds, were found to exhibit pronounced anticancer efficiency towards diverse human cancer classes with several action modes. [7] Recently, increasing interest in coordination chemistry for vanadium, was supported by its existence in biological systems, and its medicinal and catalytic characteristics.…”
