Electrochemically Activated Conductive Ni-Based MOFs for Non-enzymatic Sensors Toward Long-Term Glucose Monitoring

Abstract: Continuous intensive monitoring of glucose is one of the most important approaches in recovering the quality of life of diabetic patients. One challenge for electrochemical enzymatic glucose sensors is their short lifespan for continuous glucose monitoring. Therefore, it is of great significance to develop non-enzymatic glucose sensors as an alternative approach for long-term glucose monitoring. This study presented a highly sensitive and selective electrochemical non-enzymatic glucose sensor using the electro… Show more

“…Similarly, a Ni 3 (2,3,6,7,10,11-hexaiminotriphenylene) 2 MOF was prepared by Chen et al in 2020, which also works as an electrochemical sensor of glucose. 45 In this work, firstly the electrochemical response of the Ni-MOF electrode was investigated before and after activation by 0.1 M KOH. Results showed the appearance of two peaks due to the conversion of Ni( ii )/Ni( iii ) to each other (Fig.…”

“…Among them, MOFs have drawn much attention and have been widely used to construct glucose sensors in recent years, as the easily tunable metal ions and organic linkers enable them to produce multifunctional nanocomposites. (13) MOFs, such as Ni-MOF, (30,110,111) Cu-MOF, (41) Co-MOF, (112)(113)(114)(115) and Ni-Co MOF, (58,116,117) and their derived composites, have all demonstrated outstanding performance for enzyme-free glucose detection.…”

“…Chen et al, 90 mixed the linker 2,3,6,7,10,11-hexaiminotriphenylene (HITP) and the metal precursor NiCl 2 •6H 2 O to synthesize Ni 3 (HITP) 2 . Later, Ni 3 (HITP) 2 was used for surface modification of the GCE, quantifying glucose in alkaline medium.…”
