Electrochemiluminescence Enhanced by the Synergetic Effect of Porphyrin and Multi‐walled Carbon Nanotubes for Uric Acid Detection

Abstract: The design and exploration of efficient, stable and environmentally compatible organic emitters for an electrochemiluminescence (ECL) sensor is a promising topic. Herein, a novel environmentally-friendly luminophore, ZnBCBTP@MWCNTs, were fabricated via selfassembly of porphyrin molecules (ZnBCBTP) onto multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs). The resulting luminophore ZnBCBTP@MWCNTs displayed not only the highly ECL property and but also the good accel-erated electron mobility. Then, a label-free ECL biosensor b… Show more

“…In contrast, the self-assembled composite CQDs-TMPyP showed about 5 to 10 times enhanced ECL compared with the CQDs and TMPyP. This was due to the fact that hydrophilic carbon dots (CQDs) can effectively prevent the dissolution of the TMPyP porphyrin in aqueous solutions and accelerate electron transfer [ 16 ]. The fluorescence resonance energy transfer could be another reason for the increase in the ECL phenomenon.…”

“…Porphyrins also aggregate when combined with other materials; graphene is combined with porphyrin to form a new porphyrin nanosphere–graphene oxide composite that has great ECL properties [ 15 ]. Carbon nanotubes are a good platform for assembling porphyrins to process excellent ECL [ 16 ]. Chiral carbon dots introduced the chiral self-assembly of porphyrins [ 17 ].…”

“…In this section we will discuss some of the sensors used for the detection of amino acids (L-Tryptophan, L-Tyrosine, L-Cysteine, L-Histidine), [132,133] volatile organic compounds (VOCs), [134][135][136][137][138] herbicides (dimethoate, methyl parathion, glyphosate), [139,140] relevant organic acids (nicotinic, pipecolic, uric, folic, sorbic and ascorbic acid), [141][142][143][144][145][146][147] polyphenols, [148][149][150][151] pharmaceutical compounds (sildenafil citrate, sulfadiazine, sulfamethoxazole, isoniazid, chloramphenicol, ibuprofen, trimethoprim, diclofenac, acetaminophen), [151][152][153][154] and hormones and neurotransmitters (cortisol, 17β-estradiol, levodopa, carbidopa, dopamine). [145,147,[155][156][157][158] The detection methods for amino acids and pharmaceutical compounds have been described in detail in the reviews of Cruz-Navarro et al [19] and Gonçalves et al [159] For a more detailed description of all compounds see Table S1.…”
