Electrodeposited Metallic Nanowires as a Scanning Probe Tip

Abstract

This paper describes the production technique for metal-nanowire-AFM probes. Electrochemical deposition into nanoporous membranes grows metal nanowires with as small diameters as 15 nm. Free-standing-Ni wires with 15 nm and 100 nm diameters were successfully electrodeposited at the tips of AFM probes by electrodeposition.
