Abstract: Lithium hydroxide (LiOH) is rapidly becoming the main precursor for layered oxide cathodes used in lithium ion batteries. Current hydrometallurgical method for LiOH production uses substantial amounts of chemicals and creates wastes, leaving behind a negative environmental footprint.
