Electromagnetic electron cyclotron instability in a hot plasma having an electron current

Abstract: The presence of an electron current on the electromagnetic electron cyclotron instability due to temperature anisotropy of the background hot electrons is analysed. The growth rate depends on the strength of the electron current in the following way: (Author should give more details here in the abstract.) The application of the present study to the gap at p = in the equational magnetosphere suggest that the FAC must be of at least 1 pA/m2.
