Electron Beam Irradiation Effects on Dielectric Parameters of SiR–EPDM Blends

Abstract: The survival of an electrical system is mostly governed by the endurance limit of the dielectric material employed in it. The five different compositions of SiR EPDM blends were prepared. Electron beam radiation has been widely used in the cable manufacturing industries in order to increase the life of the cable. Hence, the five blends were irradiated to , and Mrad dose levels by electron beam accelerator. The dielectric parameters such as breakdown voltage BDV , dielectric strength DS , dielectric constant DC… Show more

“…In this study the attention is paid to performance of ethylene-propylene-diene terpolymer (EPDM)/methyl vinyl silicone (MVQ) blend. This blend combines superior resistance of 4 EPDM to oxidation, ozone or weathering ageing and flexibility over a wide temperature range combined with the excellent heat resistance, hydrophobicity and electric properties under wet conditions of silicone rubber [11][12][13]. In our previous work the significant effect of polymer architecture of clay hybrid particles on damping properties of EPDM/MVQ was revealed.…”
