Abstract:Toluene solutions of titanium tetrachloride-triisobutyl aluminium varying in molar ratio from 1 : 3 to 1 : 30 are studied by electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy at 77 K. It is shown that the stepwise reduction of Ti(IV) to Ti(III) occurs under these conditions, resulting in the formation of and het erovalent compounds. A feasible mechanism for the interaction between TiCl 4 and Al(i Bu) 3 is proposed.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
